No. It works normally in a reply, but when writ ing a post, there will still be lag and narrowing of the frame. It’s been a PITA for months now.

I do wish we had a lot more smaller cars in North America like that Polo, but alas....everybody wants SUVs and Crossovers. :(

I still have no idea what happens to you people, lol....as crazy as it sounds, I have never once had a problem on Kinja! 0_o

The VW Polo is a really good solid car.

Historically in the U.K. when youngsters went for their new cars, it’d be a Vauxhall Corsa of Ford Fiesta for the guy and a VW Polo for the gal because they are such great solid cars.

The current Polo is marginally smaller than the Mk4 VW Golf (1997-2003).

Almost the exact same size as the new 2017+ Ford Fiesta.

VW Polo L= 4,067 mm W= 1,964mm

Ford Fiesta L= 4,040mm W= 1.941mm

Small and cross over.

They are stopping selling cars here in the next few years, stupidly....just trucks, crossovers and SUVs (excluding the Mustang) . The closest we’ll get to a car from them will be the Ford Focus Active I think...

The Focus Active was supposed to be exported to the U.S. but Ford quickly changed when trumpie mentioned putting tariffs on steel and aluminium from the E. U. and a trade war with China.

!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!

The trade war with China has claimed a vehicular victim.

Earlier this year, Ford announced an audacious plan to move away from passenger cars , instead focusing the entire brand on trucks, crossovers, and utility vehicles, along with the Mustang. That meant that while the United States wouldn’t get the Focus, it would get the Focus Active , a lifted, crossover-y version that would be imported from Ford’s factory in China.

Unfortunately, that’s no longer the case.

Thanks to new tariffs being placed on Chinese imports by the Trump administration, Ford is scrapping those plans , meaning that the U.S. will be without a Focus for the first time in nearly two decades.

It’s purely a business decision. The Focus Active will also be made in Europe, but the margins are such that importing it from Germany wouldn’t make any financial sense. That means the loss of the Focus Active in America is purely a casualty of the escalating trade war between the United States and China. Ford told Automotive News that even if the tariffs were retracted, the company wouldn’t change course and import the Active.

When reached for comment, a Ford spokesperson didn’t seem too concerned with the change to its future plans, telling us that Ford didn’t expect to sell more than 50,000 of the vehicles per year in the U.S. market in the first place, which means that impact to sales volume would be negligible. That may sound like a lot of cars, but to Ford that makes the Focus Active “low volume.”

Thankfully, while we re getting more cross overs and SUVs, we are also getting more small cars, even if they aren’t in as many body styles.

The Fiesta is still available in 3 and 5 door, Focus in 5 door and estate.

I wish companies would sell more small cars here, but I guess nobody is buying them...thing is, the second the recession hits and gas prices go up again, everybody is going to do what they did last time and try and sell their expensive gas guzzlers and nobody will be buying them...

...and companies like Ford that pulled out of the smaller car game here are going to be hurting...

That’s the really crazy thing I can’t get my head around.

Ford and up until recently GM (with Vauxhall/Opel) had a good range of small cars.

The small Vauxhall Corsa is being replaced soon with the all new PSDA Vauxhall Corsa.

Not as interesting: VW Vento with Mexico plates spotted in suburban Chicago recently. Looks like a Jetta but smaller.
